1. Information We Collect — We collect the following information to provide BeFit’s services: account information (name and email via Google Sign-In); profile data (age, gender, height, weight, and target weight); food and meal entries; meal photos and food images; weight history and progress data; water intake logs; favourite foods; notification preferences; feature usage data; and health disclaimer acceptance timestamps. Profile data such as age, gender, height, and weight is considered sensitive health information and is collected solely to provide core app functionality.

2. How We Use Your Information — Your data is used to provide calorie and nutrition tracking, AI-powered food analysis, BMI calculation, personalised coaching insights, push notifications (if enabled), and app improvement. Promotional emails are only sent with your explicit consent.

3. Photos & Data Retention — Meal photos and food images you submit are processed by OpenAI to generate nutrition estimates. These images, along with all your progress data, meal logs, weight history, and app activity, are stored securely and retained for as long as your account remains active. Deleting your account results in permanent deletion of all your data. We do not delete your photos or data while your account is active — your history is always accessible to you.

4. Data Storage & Security — Your data is stored on secured cloud servers using HTTPS encryption. Authentication is handled via Google Sign-In. While we implement reasonable security measures, no system can guarantee complete security. We will notify affected users of any data breach as required by applicable law.

5. Data Retention & Deletion — All data is stored while your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently and irreversibly deleted.

6. Third-Party Services — We use Google for authentication and OpenAI for AI-powered food analysis. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

7. International Users — BeFit is operated from Alberta, Canada. By using the app, you acknowledge that your data may be processed on servers located in Canada and the United States (where OpenAI’s infrastructure operates). This applies to users in the USA, Canada, Australia, and other countries.

8. Email Communications — Promotional and marketing emails are sent only with your explicit consent. You may unsubscribe at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at info@thebefit.com.

9. Your Rights — You have the right to access your personal data, correct inaccurate information, delete your account and all associated data, and opt out of marketing communications. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@thebefit.com. Users in certain jurisdictions (including California and the European Union) may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.

10. Health Disclaimer — BeFit provides general nutrition tracking only. Nothing in the app constitutes medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about your health, diet, or fitness.

11. Children’s Privacy — BeFit is not intended for users under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Data Breach Notification — In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and any other applicable law.

13. Changes to This Policy — We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated through in-app notifications. Continued use of BeFit after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
